Stunning Wedding Photography at the Priests House in the North Yorkshire countryside

Two brides nuzzle into each other on their wedding day.

Poppy and Sammy married at The Priests House in Skipton, North Yorkshire, on a warm and cloudy spring day. I was absolutely besotted with the location before I even arrived at the venue after enjoying a scenic route through the Yorkshire Moors to meet the couple for bridal prep at The Devonshire Arms Hotel on the Bolton Abbey Estate. The surroundings were absolutely breathtaking, the perfect location for this intimate and personal twilight celebration.

Poppy and Sammy's wedding day was an absolute masterclass in doing your wedding your way, and considering the couple met whilst cosplaying at university, it was never in doubt that they would bring fantasy and creativity into their wedding day!

The two brides got ready together surrounded by friends, and the personal touches were visible in every way; from the dinosaur egg ring box to personalised embroidered good luck charms to family heirloom jewellery. However, the most incredible personal touch of the whole day had to be the brides' handmade, homemade wedding dresses! Created in beautiful pastel tones of blush pink and baby blue, the couple had spent months creating their dream wedding dresses and the result was genuinely breathtaking.

The Priests House itself is a charming and historic wedding venue nestled in the shadow of the ruins of Barden Tower. A compact venue with original stonework, dark oak beamed ceilings and stained glass windows, The Priests House couldn't have been more perfect for this creative couple and their small wedding party.

The brides' personal touches didn't stop with their outfits and accessories; the ceremony itself was one of the most unique I've had the privilege of photographing! Poppy and Sammy knew they wanted to enter their wedding ceremony together, and worked with the brilliant staff at the Priests House to create a double aisle - entering 'airline style', as the couple described it! After being led into their ceremony by loved ones, the brides were each presented with a special sword to start ceremonial proceedings.

Touching personal vows were read (and I may or may not have nearly had a little cry behind my camera) before the brides exited their ceremony to enjoy a mulled wine drinks reception, adding to the medieval vibe of the day. With the dramatic cloudy sky, stunning rural landscape and imposing historical ruins, this beautiful day had such a magical atmosphere.

Poppy and Sammy's wedding was my first time at this beautiful wedding venue, and it goes without saying that I would love to visit as wedding photographer again! If you're getting married at the Priests House and are looking for inclusive, friendly and creative wedding photography, get in touch.
