On the last weekend of August this year, Gemma and Josh tied the knot at the Reid Rooms at Great Dunmow after thirteen years together. Having known the couple for a while, there was never any doubt that their wedding was going to be a corker – and it definitely lived up to expectations!
An exclusive-use, rural venue in the heart of the Essex countryside, the Reid Rooms provided the perfect location for this easy-going and romantic day. Preparations began in the farmhouse, with Gemma and Josh each taking over a separate floor of the house. They got their glad rags on surrounded by their nearest and dearest, including their gorgeous kids Darcie and Noah, and the morning culminated in a beautiful (and totally tear-jerking) sister-and-brother dress reveal.
The day was so chilled, a vibe that was helped along by the gorgeous late summer sunshine! A simple and intimate ceremony was followed by a delicious Aussie-style barbeque, and whilst a huge wedding bouncy castle was set up for the kids to enjoy (and Gemma on a few occasions), the real (unintentional) showstopper of kids’ entertainment was definitely the decorative fountain!
These two gorgeous humans couldn’t keep their hands off each other all day, and amongst many a garter flash and glass or five or prosecco, we all spent the day basking in an atmosphere of total love and joy (with a generous helping of wasp-swatting). All in all, this was one seriously divine wedding. Thank you so much for having me Gemma and Josh!
How did you meet?
Gemma: We met through mutual friends 13 years ago. My best friend was going out with his best friend!
What’s your favourite thing about one another?
Gemma: Josh is kind and considerate of other people… and he laughs at my horrendous jokes!
Josh: Her kind, caring nature.
What’s your best memory together?
Gemma: Seeing Josh hold both of our beautiful children for the first time and seeing Josh’s face for the first time at the end of the aisle.
Josh: The births of our children.
Did your wedding day have a theme?
Gemma: We went with a rustic feel to the day, aiming for a laidback and relaxed atmosphere. We wanted it to feel fun and a bit less formal, so we opted for a BBQ instead of a sit-down meal and booked a bouncy castle for the little ones! We wanted everyone to enjoy the day and for it feel like a big family get together.
Does this reflect anything in particular about you as a couple?
Gemma: Josh and I are both pretty laidback people, and we’re very family oriented. It was important to us that the people we love are happy and enjoying themselves!
What was your favourite bit about the day?
Gemma: Spending time with everyone and having all the people we love together again. I loved seeing everyone smiling and laughing.
Josh: Celebrating our marriage with the ones we love.
What are your hopes for the future?
Gemma: To make many more memories together as a family and to continue to at/with each other!
Josh: To spend a long and happy life together.
