Huddersfield town hall wedding photography
Well, where to start with Sarah and Ellis' sublime wedding day at Huddersfield Town Hall?! Some weddings, I find myself wishing I could package up and do the wedding photography for over and over again, and this was one of those. On a wintry sun-soaked Friday morning in early December, I met Sarah, her close friend Laura, and Sarah and Ellis' gorgeous girls Betty and Pearl off the train at Huddersfield Train Station. From chatting with Sarah beforehand I knew that her wedding outfit was going to be incredible, but the green velvet/fuchsia pink/glitter rainbow badass combo that stepped off that train was better than I could have imagined! Flanked by her best mate Laura (who looked like a retro dream, btw) and Betty and Pearl dressed in the most divine little bridesmaid dresses and shoes, bride Sarah strutted down the platform and I just knew the day was going to be an absolute banger.
Huddersfield wedding photographer
We couldn't have got luckier with the weather- the day before their wedding, Huddersfield was lashed with CONSTANT rain and end-of-the-world skies, but by some miracle the morning of their celebration could not have been more perfect! After some fierce photos outside Huddersfield's gorgeous neo-classical train station, our first stop was the gorgeous Arcade coffee shop inside the super-cool Byram Arcade. Sarah and Ellis' uber classy forest green wedding cake (made by Laura) was waiting for us when we arrived at Arcade Coffee and Food, and Sarah and Laura wasted no time getting stuck into some much needed nerve-settling pre-wedding espresso martinis.
A wonderful, intimate wedding ceremony
The wedding ceremony took place at Huddersfield Town Hall, with just Sarah, Ellis, their girls, Laura, and Ellis' friend Phil as witnesses. There's something so brilliant about being able to capture micro weddings like this, as it feels like such a privilege to be a part of something so small, intimate and special. I tend to find my documentary style particularly wonderful during small ceremonies too, as I'm able to photograph up close and personal, creating images that really show the true emotion of the moment. There were tears all around as Sarah and Ellis said their vows and watching their lovely daughters run to them once the ceremony was over was just divine.
A secret wedding for a very special couple
Sarah and Ellis' Huddersfield Town Centre wedding was actually a secret from their family and friends, making the whole affair that much more exciting. Betty and Pearl had only been told that their mum and dad were getting married the night before the day itself- I was told there was some serious happy tears all round! Thank you so much Sarah and Ellis for trusting me and inviting me to be part of the whole amazing process, and to be present on such a special wedding day. I loved every minute of it!
