The Castlefield Rooms Wedding Photography | Stunning Manchester City Wedding
Lee and Rob’s wedding at The Castlefield Rooms was an absolute joy to photograph. Located in Manchester’s historic Castlefield area, their stunning, beautifully-thought out wedding day perfectly complemented a venue with a perfect mix of elegance, charm, and city grit. Lee and Rob’s day was a true reflection of what makes Manchester so special.
Manchester City Centre wedding
Their October wedding was blessed with bright, golden sunshine, adding an extra sparkle to the day. From their morning preparations in the gorgeous on-site cottage to their emotional ceremony and lively terrace reception, every moment was full to the brim with love and celebration.
If you’re planning a wedding in Manchester city centre and looking for a venue that combines unbeatable location with industrial chic vibes, The Castlefield Rooms is definitely one to add to your shortlist!
The Castlefield Rooms Cottage
The grooms began their day getting ready in The Castlefield Rooms’ on-site cottage with their best people. I was absolutely OBSESSED with this gorgeous little cottage, which is just a stones’ throw away from the wedding venue itself, just across the canal. It’s a beautiful, cosy space with tasteful interiors that feel intimate yet luxurious, setting the perfect tone for the day ahead.
What I loved most about photographing their morning was how relaxed and joyful it felt. The sunlight streaming through the windows created the perfect natural light for capturing those quiet, meaningful moments. Having a preparation space so close to the venue is such a game-changer for couples, keeping everything calm and convenient. You can even spot your guests arriving from the front door!
An autumnal wedding ceremony at The Castlefield Rooms
The Castlefield Rooms has several elegant spaces for wedding ceremonies, and Lee and Rob opted for the warm, sun-soaked brick of the beautiful Brindley Room. Their custom flower arch, glitterball accents and autumnal decor looked breathtaking in the winter sunlight, and their ceremony itself was just lovely. Both Lee and Rob entered their ceremony arm in arm with close friends, there were heartfelt and hilarious readings and surrounded by their loved ones, they exchanged heartfelt vows with the warm October sun pouring through the windows.
One of my favourite parts of the day was the drinks reception on the terrace. With its incredible views of Manchester’s iconic viaducts, bridges, and bustling city life, it felt like a true celebration of everything this city stands for—history, vibrancy, and connection. I stopped several times to just take in the magic of a Manchester city centre wedding, the trams running across the bright blue sky and city shoppers craning to get a good look at the wedding party celebrating on the terrace!
Wedding portraits in Manchester City Centre
Manchester city centre is a photographer’s dream at the best of times, and the brilliantly urban spots surrounding The Castlefield Rooms are among the best in the city. Just steps from the venue, you’ll find cobbled streets, towering viaducts, and the gritty industrial features that make Manchester so unique.
For Lee and Rob’s portraits, we explored the urban surroundings, taking full advantage of the warm, golden light and the incredible textures of the city. The viaducts created a dramatic yet romantic backdrop, while the cobblestones added a touch of vintage charm. I think that’s what makes Manchester so special - the clash of history, modern touches, urban grit and sleek city chic. I love it so much, and it created absolute magic for Lee and Rob’s photos.
A night to remember in Manchester City Centre
When I first met Lee and Rob, they said they wanted their wedding to almost be in two halves - soft, autumnal and romantic during the ceremony, and then straight into a big, raucous party! Blimey, did they manage that. We were treated to a dance-off ceremony exit, iconic themed table names (complete with Jane McDonald masks), not one but two fantastic drag performers, sparkly shirts, a glitter bar, a Kylie tribute and the most spectacularly choreographed first dance I’ve possibly ever seen. Lee, Rob and their friends and family definitely know how to party!
Castlefield Rooms wedding photographer
I’ve said this a million times before, but wedding photography is nothing without that bond between a photographer and the couple. Lee and Rob were an absolute dream to work with—kind, thoughtful, and so full of joy. From our first conversations during the booking process to their wedding day itself, they made me feel so appreciated and welcomed and I couldn’t have appreciated them and their loved ones more on their wedding day.
Their day wasn’t just about the beautiful venue or the perfect details (although those were definitely there!); it was about the love they shared and the way they made everyone around them feel. Capturing their connection and the energy of their friends and family was an absolute privilege - thank you for having me Lee and Rob!
